FAQ

THIRTY ANSWERS, NO SMALL PRINT

Orders, shipping, returns, downloads and food. If the answer you need is not here, the contact form is at the bottom of the page and a person reads it.

ORDERS

Do I need an account to order?

No. You can check out as a guest with an email address and a delivery address, and nothing else. An account is useful for two things: seeing your past orders, and re-downloading your e-books without asking us for a new link. You can create one during checkout in the same step, or later, using the same email address you ordered with.

Can I buy an e-book and a food product in the same order?

Yes, and the two halves behave differently. The digital part is delivered by email as soon as the payment is confirmed, so there is no waiting for the parcel. The physical part is packed and dispatched separately, and shipping is charged only on the physical items. One order, one invoice, two arrival times.

What payment methods can I use?

At checkout you can pay with Multibanco, MB WAY, Visa, Mastercard and PayPal. Payment is processed by Stripe over a secure connection; we never see or store your card details. The order is confirmed only once the payment is authorised, and the confirmation email reaches you within minutes. If it does not, check the spam folder before writing to us — that is where it usually is.

Can I put my VAT number on the invoice?

Yes. There is an optional NIF field in the checkout data step — fill it in before you confirm the order. The invoice is issued automatically and sent to the email address you used. Once issued, the tax details on it cannot be changed, so it is worth a second look before you confirm.

I made a mistake in my order. Can I change or cancel it?

Write to us as soon as you can, with your order number, at portugal@ohmycodtours.com. If the parcel has not been dispatched yet we can usually correct the address, change a size or cancel the whole thing. Once it is with the carrier we can no longer intercept it, and the order has to follow the returns process instead.

Do you sell gift cards?

Not in this shop, for now. The Oh! My Cod gift card is valid for our experiences — tours, walks and tastings — and is bought on the main site, not here. We would rather say that plainly than sell you a second voucher with different rules and a different expiry date. To give a product, order it and have it delivered straight to the person.

SHIPPING

Where do you ship to?

We ship from Portugal to the European Union, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, the United States and Canada. If your country does not appear at checkout, it means we do not have a rate for it yet — write to us and we will tell you whether we can arrange one. Digital products have no destination restrictions at all: an e-book can be downloaded anywhere there is a connection.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is calculated at checkout from the weight of the order and the destination: the table above. Free shipping applies from 60,00 €. The full table is on the Shipping & Delivery page, and the exact amount always appears in the order summary before you pay. Nothing is added after that screen.

How long will my order take?

We dispatch within 1 to 2 working days working days of the payment being confirmed. Delivery then takes 2 to 4 working days in mainland Portugal and 4 to 8 working days elsewhere in the European Union. Some food is made in batches around the producer's calendar rather than the day you order it; when that is the case, the product page says so before you buy.

Can I track my parcel?

Yes. When the order leaves us you receive a dispatch email with a tracking number and a link, and the same tracking sits in your account under Orders. The first scan usually takes a few hours to appear, so a status that has not moved by the first evening is normal and not a lost parcel.

Will I pay customs or import duties?

Inside the European Union, no. The price you pay includes Portuguese VAT and nothing further is charged on arrival. Outside the EU, import duties, taxes and clearance fees are set by your own country and are payable by you as the importer. We declare every parcel accurately, with its real contents and value, because the alternative is your parcel sitting in a customs shed. the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, the United States and Canada

How do you pack food?

Jars travel in moulded pulp or corrugated inserts inside a rigid box, with the label turned away from the seam, which is the part most likely to be scuffed in transit. We use paper tape and no plastic void fill. If a jar arrives broken, photograph the outer box before you unpack anything — that photograph is what settles the claim with the carrier.

RETURNS

Can I return something I have changed my mind about?

Yes. You have 14 days from the day you receive the order to tell us you are withdrawing, and a further 14 days to send the items back. They must return unused, in their original packaging, with any seal intact. Two categories are excluded by law rather than by us — food that has been opened, and digital files that have been downloaded. Both are explained below.

Can I return food?

Only while it is still sealed. Once a food product has been opened it cannot be resold or returned, for hygiene reasons; this is a legal exception, not a shop policy. A sealed jar inside the 14-day window can come back. And if a product arrives damaged, past its date, or is simply not what you ordered, none of this applies — we replace it or refund you.

Can I return an e-book?

Not once you have downloaded it. Before the download begins you confirm that you want immediate delivery and that you understand this waives the 14-day withdrawal right for that file. That confirmation is what closes the return. If you bought the wrong guide and have not downloaded anything yet, write to us — we will sort it out.

Who pays for the return?

return postage is yours unless the item arrived damaged or wrong. If the return is our fault — a damaged item, the wrong product, something that does not match its description — we pay for it and we arrange the collection, so you do not have to queue anywhere. Keep the proof of postage until the refund lands; it is the only evidence that the parcel left your hands.

My order arrived damaged, or the wrong item came.

Tell us within 48 hours if you can, with your order number and photographs of both the item and the outer box. We will send a replacement or refund you in full, original shipping included, and we cover the return. You do not have to argue the case or prove anything beyond those photographs.

When do I get my money back?

We refund within 14 days of receiving the returned items, or of your proof that you have sent them, whichever comes first, to the same method you paid with. Card refunds usually appear 5 to 10 working days working days after we process them — that part is your bank's timing, not ours. You get an email the moment the refund leaves our side.

DIGITAL PRODUCTS

How do I receive an e-book?

By email, as soon as the payment is confirmed, usually within a few minutes. The email carries a download link for each file you bought, and the same links sit in your account under Orders if you created one. Nothing is posted, no address is needed, and no shipping is charged on a digital-only order.

What formats do I get, and what can I read them on?

Every guide is delivered as PDF and EPUB. PDF keeps the layout exactly as it was designed and is best on a computer, a tablet or printed. EPUB reflows the text and behaves better on a phone or an e-reader, where you can change the type size. Both are included in the same purchase; you choose at the moment of reading.

My download link does not work.

Three usual causes: the link has expired, the download limit is used up, or an email client broke the URL across two lines. Open your account and download from there, or write to us with your order number and we will issue a fresh link. We never charge for reissuing something you have already bought.

How many times can I download a file?

Each link allows five downloads and stays valid for 30 days after purchase. The limit exists to stop links being posted publicly, not to catch you out. Save the file somewhere of your own the first time it arrives, and ask us for a new link whenever you need one — there is no expiry on that.

Can I print it or share it?

Print as much as you like, for yourself and your household. What the licence does not allow is redistributing the file, uploading it anywhere public, or reselling it. The licence is personal, perpetual and non-transferable, and covers as many of your own devices as you like. If you want copies for a class, a team or a hotel, write to us — we would rather agree terms than pretend it does not happen.

Can I read it on a Kindle?

Yes, with one extra step. Amazon devices do not open EPUB copied straight from a computer, but they do accept files sent to your personal Send-to-Kindle address, which converts both EPUB and PDF for you. On any other reader — Kobo, PocketBook, Tolino — the EPUB opens directly, and the PDF works on all of them.

FOOD & ALLERGENS

Where do I find allergen information?

On every food product page, in two places: the Composition & allergens tab, and the attribute panel beside the price. Allergens are printed in bold, following EU labelling rules. The same information is on the physical label, and if the page and the label ever disagree, the label on the jar in your hand is the one that counts.

Is there a risk of cross-contamination?

the room where they are packed also handles nuts and sesame. Where a producer cannot rule out cross-contamination we say so on the product page in plain language, rather than hiding behind a blanket 'may contain'. If your allergy is severe and the page does not answer your question precisely, write to us before ordering and we will ask the producer directly.

Are your food products vegetarian or vegan?

both products are vegetarian and vegan. Black garlic and table olives contain no animal ingredients in themselves, but brines and processing aids vary from producer to producer, so we confirm it product by product instead of making a blanket claim. Each product page states it explicitly under Composition.

How should I store what I buy?

Each product page has a Storage & shelf life tab with the specific answer, and the label repeats it. As a general rule: cool, dry and away from light. Once a jar is open, keep it refrigerated and finish it within the period stated on the label — an opened product has a far shorter life than a sealed one, whatever the printed date says.

How long will it last?

Sealed shelf life is printed on every label and repeated on every product page: 12 months for the black garlic and 18 for the olives. We do not dispatch anything with less than at least two thirds of the shelf life remaining. Small batches mean the dates move between productions, so the date on your jar is the one that governs, not the one on the page.

Is black garlic fermented?

Technically, no — and it is the most repeated thing said about it. Black garlic is aged, not fermented: weeks of gentle, controlled heat and humidity, with no microbes doing any work. What turns the cloves black, soft and sweet is the Maillard reaction, the same chemistry that browns a bread crust and makes caramel taste of more than sugar. Ours are held at 60 °C and around 80% humidity for sixty days.
