Oh! My Cod gift card
A card with a number on it, and twenty-four months to decide what the number becomes.
It works on everything we do. The experiences run from a boat on the Tejo at 59 € a head to a full day out of Lisbon at 250 €, with most of the food tours and the Pico tastings landing between 105 € and 160 €. So a card is sometimes the whole day and sometimes a contribution towards one, and both are a decent thing to give somebody.
It works here too, on the guides, the food and the goods. Nobody has to spend it in one go. Whatever is left stays on the code until it runs out.
The printable card downloads the moment the payment clears, so there is something to hand over the same evening. The code itself is issued by a person and arrives by email within one working day, because we would rather read an order than let a machine post a number into the world.
The experiences behind the card won the National Tourism Award for Best Gastronomic Project in 2024. The rest of that story is here.
You choose a value and you pay. Two things happen after that.
The printable card arrives as a PDF, on the confirmation page and in your email, straight away. It has a blank line for the code and a blank line for the value, so it can be filled in by hand and given the same evening.
The code comes from us by email within one working day. We issue it against your order by hand, which is slower than a machine and harder to get wrong.
To spend it on an experience, write to hello@ohmycodshop.com with the code and say which one you want. To spend it in the shop, enter the code at checkout. We take the value off the price and whatever is left stays on the code.
Every experience we run on the mainland: the Lisbon food and wine tour, the seafood and garum walk, the sustainable chefs tour, the private dinner in an Alfama apartment, the boat, and the full day out to Setúbal.
Every experience we run in the Azores: the Pico wine tastings, the harvest week, the beekeeping day, the cultural table on Pico, and the trips to São Jorge.
Everything in this shop, which is to say the guides, the food and the goods.
One card can pay for more than one thing, and more than one card can pay for one thing.
NO PARCEL, NO WAITING
Our guides are files, not parcels. They arrive by email within minutes of the payment clearing, in more than one format, and they are yours to keep on your own devices. This page explains how that works and what to do when it does not.
WHAT YOU RECEIVE
Each guide is delivered as PDF and EPUB, both included in the same purchase at no extra cost. File size is around between 18 MB and 24 MB, so a slow connection may take a moment. Everything is written in English. There is no digital rights management on the files: they open in any standard reader, they do not phone home, and they will still open in ten years on a machine that has never heard of us.
HOW DELIVERY WORKS
As soon as the payment is confirmed, an email goes to the address you used at checkout, carrying one download link per file. Nothing needs to be installed and no account is required. If you created an account, the same links live permanently under Orders, which is the simplest way to get a file back onto a new phone. Delivery is usually within minutes; if the email has not arrived in fifteen, check the spam folder first — that is where it almost always is.
FORMATS AND DEVICES
PDF keeps the layout exactly as it was designed — maps, photographs and margins in the right places. It is the format for a laptop, a tablet or a printer.
EPUB reflows the text to fit the screen, so you can change the type size. It is the format for a phone or an e-reader.
Kobo, PocketBook and Tolino open EPUB directly. Apple Books and Google Play Books take both. Amazon devices do not open an EPUB copied straight across, but they do accept files sent to your personal Send-to-Kindle address, which converts EPUB and PDF for you.
One purchase, both formats. You are not choosing a device at the moment of buying, only at the moment of reading.
DOWNLOAD LIMITS AND VALIDITY
Each link allows five downloads and stays valid for 30 days after purchase. The limit is there to stop a link being posted publicly, not to ration your reading. Save the file somewhere of your own the first time it arrives — a computer, a cloud drive, anywhere that is not just an inbox. If the limit runs out or the link expires, ask us and we will issue a new one, at no cost and without a discussion about why.
IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG
- The email never arrived → Check spam and promotions, then search your inbox for the order number. If it is nowhere, write to us: the address may have a typo in it, and we can correct it and resend.
- The link does nothing, or gives an error → Usually an expired link, a used-up limit, or an email client that broke the URL across two lines. Try from your account first; then ask us for a new link.
- The download stops halfway → Almost always the connection. Try again on a stable network rather than mobile data, and download to a computer before moving the file to a reader.
- The file will not open → Make sure you are opening the PDF in a PDF reader and the EPUB in an e-reader app; the two are not interchangeable. If it still refuses, the file may have been corrupted in transfer and we will send it again.
- You lost the file → Your account keeps the links permanently. If you checked out as a guest, write to us with the order number.
WHAT YOU MAY DO WITH IT
The purchase gives you a personal licence: read it, keep it on as many of your own devices as you like, and print it for yourself and your household. What it does not cover is redistributing the file, uploading it to a public or shared drive, or reselling it in any form. The licence is personal, perpetual and non-transferable, and covers as many of your own devices as you like. For classroom, team, hotel or tour-operator use, write to us and we will agree terms — an institutional licence, priced per number of readers. We would rather have that conversation than pretend it does not happen.
REFUNDS ON DIGITAL PRODUCTS
Before the download begins you confirm that you want the file immediately and that this waives the 14-day withdrawal right for it. Once downloaded, a guide cannot be returned — the same rule that applies to every digital file bought online. If you have not downloaded anything yet, the purchase can be cancelled and refunded in full. And a corrupt or unreadable file is a fault, not a change of mind: we replace it, or refund it if we cannot.
